Clinical and Field Trial Registration Policy

Prospective Registration

GJCCPH requires prospective registration for clinical trials and other prospective interventional studies within the scope of current ICMJE Recommendations, generally before enrollment of the first participant.

Examples

• Randomized or non-randomized health intervention trials.
• Community heat-adaptation or cooling interventions.
• Climate-related WASH interventions implemented during floods or droughts.
• Field vector-control interventions where participants or health outcomes are prospectively assigned or assessed as part of an intervention study.

Recognized Registries

Examples include ClinicalTrials.gov, ISRCTN, the Clinical Trials Registry–India (CTRI), ANZCTR, and WHO ICTRP primary registries, or other registries recognized under applicable standards.

Reporting

Authors provide the registry name, registration number, URL, date of registration, and an indication of whether registration was prospective. The registration number appears in the manuscript and submission metadata where relevant.

Exceptions

Any exception to prospective registration is considered only in accordance with applicable ICMJE guidance and must be transparently justified. Retrospective registration does not automatically cure a failure to meet prospective-registration requirements.

Observational Studies

Observational studies, including retrospective climate-health time-series studies, do not generally require clinical trial registration, but must meet applicable ethics, data-governance, and reporting requirements.
