Reporting Guidelines and Sex/Gender Reporting

Reporting Guidelines

Authors use reporting standards appropriate to study design. Examples include CONSORT, STROBE, PRISMA 2020, COREQ, STARD, TRIPOD, CHEERS, ARRIVE, and RECORD. Authors provide checklists or flow diagrams when the relevant guideline or journal workflow requires them.

Sex and Gender

Where relevant to the research question, authors report sex and gender considerations transparently and use appropriate terminology. Data is disaggregated by sex where scientifically and ethically appropriate, and authors explain how sex and/or gender were determined and why those variables were or were not included in analysis.

SAGER Principles

GJCCPH encourages application of the Sex and Gender Equity in Research (SAGER) principles. Single-sex or single-gender studies explain the scientific or ethical rationale where relevant.

Applicability

Not every study requires every reporting guideline. Authors identify the applicable standard and explain any material deviations.
